Okay, so if you’ve been following me for a while, you probably know me as ASKYE — the artist, the songwriter, the girl who pours her soul into every song. But there’s a lot more to me than what you see on your screen or hear in my songs. I feel like i've lived multiple different lives in just the span of a short decade. Lately i've been doing a lot of reflecting on how I got where i'm at and it stems from the things that have shaped me prior to this whole "pop star life".

So I thought it’d be fun (and honestly long overdue) to spill a few secrets and stories that most people don’t know about me. I'm always very open and honest about my life with you all and the deeper I go into this musical journey of mine, I just want to connect on a deeper level which means sharing a more personal insight into my life BEFORE I was "ASKYE". Some of these might make you smile, some might surprise you — but all of them make me, me. 💫

Let’s get into it.

1. I Have a Twin Sister — and She’s My Number One Ride or Die 👯‍♀️

Yep, you read that right. I have a twin sister! Her name is Olivia, and she’s five minutes younger than me — which means I’ll always be the “older sister,” even if it’s by a very tiny margin (and yes, I remind her of that every chance I get 😂).

Olivia is my biggest fan, my rock, my voice of reason, and my favorite human. She’s been by my side through everything— from photo shoots to music video sets to brainstorming crazy creative ideas at 2 a.m. She even shot the cover for my debut album (which is dropping this winter — I can’t wait for you to see it). No matter what it is, shes always by my side with full support. The hardest part of moving away from WI in 2018 when I left, was leaving her behind.

What’s funny is that she wants absolutely nothing to do with the spotlight. Like, she’ll literally hide behind the camera and refuse to be in my videos — but she’s always there, quietly cheering me on from behind the scenes, with the BEST ideas.

Oh, and she’s also an incredible baker. Like, “open-a-bakery-and-go-viral” kind of baker. My dream is to blow up this music career so big that I can open her a bakery in our hometown. We joke about it all the time — but the truth is, we’re not really joking. We mean it. 💕 COMMENT below if you love this idea as much as me haha.

Fun fact: Olivia was a star gymnast in high school, so she’s also in crazy shape. Between her gymnastics background and my fitness world, our family dinners could’ve been an Olympic event LOL. We love working out together and pushing each other to hit the gym.

2. I Grew Up Riding Arabian Horses 🐎

Here’s one that shocks people every time: I was a full-on horse girl.

I started riding and showing Arabian horses when I was nine years old — and I still remember the exact moment I sat on a horse for the first time. It was pure magic. I begged my parents to let me take lessons, and when they finally said yes, they had no idea what they had just unleashed.

This was my horse "Thomas" when we had just went regional champion. This was in 2014.

I became obsessed. Like, wake-up-at-sunrise-and-live-at-the-barn kind of obsessed. Those horses were my world. I spent every summer helping out, brushing them, feeding them, learning every single thing I could about them. The first horse I ever rode was named "Casa", I still have a framed photo of me and Casa and when I look at it I always feel like I can channel the little girl in me who was just as excited about the horses as she now is the music.

I showed horses for years — too many to count — and even though I eventually drifted away when I started college, my heart never left the barn. I will own a horse again one day, no question about it.

Looking back, I realize that growing up around horses taught me discipline, patience, and connection — the same things I lean on now in my music career. This was a HUGE part of my childhood and the memories I have from my "horse girl days" are like none other.

3. I Was Named After Amelia Earhart ✈️

Yep — that Amelia.

I come from an aviation family, and my dad is a retired airline pilot, so it makes total sense that my parents named me after Amelia Earhart, the legendary woman who broke barriers and became the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.

This is my uncles plane in North Carolina. When I first moved to GA he used to come pick me up in this little plane and bring me to NC for some family time.

When I was younger, I actually thought I might follow in those footsteps. I was fascinated by flying, by freedom, by the sky. I even thought I might become a pilot someday.

But life had a different plan. Music came in and completely stole my heart — and I have zero regrets. I think Amelia Earhart would approve, though. She was fearless and followed her passion no matter what, and that’s exactly what I’m doing in my own way LOL.

A little secret you might not know is thats how my name "ASKYE" came about. "UHHH-SKYEEE". I have a crazy fascination with the sky. No matter the time of day I can look up and always just find peace. When I started my Askye World Wide brand I wanted people to just feel peace within my brand.

4. I’m a Certified Personal Trainer and WBFF Bikini Pro 💪

Before music ever came into my life, fitness was my entire world.

I’m a certified personal trainer and a WBFF bikini pro bodybuilding athlete — yep, that’s why I stay in shape. Fitness was my first love, my first real obsession, and at one point, I thought that would be my lifelong career.

That chapter of my life feels like a different lifetime, but it shaped me in so many ways. I trained clients for years, competed on stage, and learned so much about mindset, self-discipline, and confidence. I moved out to Los Angeles in 2018 to pursue fitness on another level. I worked out at Golds Gym- The Mecca which is a very famous bodybuilding gym. It felt like such a dream at the time. I'll open up about this part of my life in another post.

Even though I’m now a full-time artist, fitness is still a huge part of who I am. I still hit the gym 3–4 days a week, lifting weights and focusing on strength. And recently, I’ve fallen in love with pole dancing and pole fitness — which has been a whole new challenge (and such an empowering one). I talk about my pole journey in a previous blog post.

I now have my own fitness app — The Askye Fit App — which I created to help other women learn how to live healthier, more balanced lives. It’s not my whole world anymore, but it’s still something I’m proud of. You can check it out at www.fitwithskye.com if you’re looking for some guidance or motivation.

5. I Record My Own Music 🎙️

This might surprise a lot of people — but I actually record my own vocals.

Yep. I don’t always rely on an engineer. I’ve spent years learning the ins and outs of recording and producing, and now I’m able to engineer a lot of my sessions myself.

There’s something so freeing about being alone in the studio, headphones on, lights low, and just creating. It’s raw, emotional, and deeply personal. No pressure, no judgment — just me, my mic, and my feelings.

When people listen to my songs, they’re not just hearing a vocal — they’re hearing me, literally and emotionally.

Final Thoughts 💫

So there you have it — five insane things you might not have known about me.

From horses to fitness stages, from flying dreams to twin telepathy, every single part of my story led me right here — to the music, to you, to this wild, beautiful journey I’m on.

I think that’s what makes life so cool — we’re all made up of so many different chapters, and sometimes, the ones we don’t talk about enough are the ones that define us most. I wanted this to be a little glimpse into my world BEFORE the music became "front and center"

Thanks for being here, for reading, for caring. You make all of this worth it.

I couldn't do this without all of you!!!

Until next time —

xoxo
